They are an indigenous community of Venezuela and can also be known as Akawai, Akawayo, Kapong, Ingariko, Ingaricó, Kapon, Acahuayo, Acewaio, Pemon. They are an Indigenous people, in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Akawaio.
