They are an indigenous community of French Guiana and can also be known as Paricuria, Parikuriena, Palicur, Païkwené, Parinkur-Iéne, Paliku’ene, Palijur, Aukuyene, Parikurene, Palikour, Palincur, Paricores, Pamiwa, Aukwayene. They are an Indigenous people, in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Protestantism. They primarily speak Palikúr.
