They are described as a middle Zambezi Bantu ethnic group indigenous to the border area of southwestern Zambia and southeastern Angola They are an Diaspora people, with Masi, Mashi as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Khoisan people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Mashi (Zambia).
