They are an ethnolinguistic community of Malawi, southeast, south of Lake Kilwa, south of the Yao, northeast of the Sena. They are an Indigenous people, in the Bantu, Makua-Yao people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Lomwe.
