They are described as an Indigenous Chadic people of the Chibok highlands of northeastern Nigeria who emerged from the convergence of several regional communities and maintain a distinct Kyibaku identity through their Cibak language and hill-country heritage They are an Indigenous people, with Kyibaku as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Chadic people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. They mostly adhere to Neo-Pentecostalism and Cibak is their primary language.
