They are a small Indigenous ethnic group in northern Ghana, recognized by their distinct culture, language, and history within the Gur (Mabia) peoples of West Africa. They are an Indigenous people in the Gur people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Safaliba and their primary religion is Animism.
