They are a Mande ethnolinguistic group indigenous to Sierra Leone's Kono district and can also be known as Kpelle. They are an Diaspora people, in the Mande people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Kono (Sierra Leone).
