The Kota of Congo

The Kota of Congo, numbering approximately 19,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Bakota people who migrated from southern Cameroon through Gabon into Congo, whose 18th-century ancestor cult preserved clan founders' bones in baskets guarded by carved mbulu ngulu figures, a practice that died out by 1940. They mostly adhere to Protestantism and Kota (Gabon) is their primary language.
