The Bangi of Congo

The Bangi of Congo, numbering approximately 126,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Bantu people whose Bobangi ancestors dominated 500 kilometers of the upper Congo River trade route in the late 1700s and 1800s, assimilating or displacing rival groups, their trade tongue becoming the primary source of modern Lingala. They mostly adhere to Protestantism and Bangi is their primary language.
