The Taungyo of Myanmar, numbering approximately 100,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a Bamar-related people of Myanmar's Shan State centered on Pindaya, officially recognized among the state's ethnic groups despite cultural ties to the Bamar rather than the dominant Shan They are an Indigenous people, with Taungyo as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Burmese people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Theravada Buddhism and Taungyo is their primary language.
