They are described as a people of mixed Tibetan, Naxi and Subi ancestry who inhabit a valley in and around the township of Xiangcheng in southwest Sichuan Province They are an Indigenous people, with Xiangcheng as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Tibetan Buddhism. They primarily speak Qiang, Northern.
