The Rumai De`ang of China, numbering approximately 6,300 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a distinct ethnolinguistic subgroup of the De’ang people of southwest China, closely related to the Palaung (Ta’ang) peoples of northern Myanmar They are an Indigenous people, with Palaung as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mon-Khmer people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Mahayana Buddhism and Rumai Palaung is their primary language.
