Historically, they have been associated with pastoralism, cattle herding, dairy production, agriculture, and, in some regions, nomadic or semi-nomadic lifestyles. They are an Indigenous people in the Gujjar people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Marwari (India) and their primary religion is Hinduism.
