The Pagadai of India

The Pagadai of India, numbering approximately 20,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Ramanathapuram and Madurai districts, Tamil Nadu, also called Chakkiliyan or Arundhatiyar, tracing descent from sage Adi Jambavadu. Sweeping and farm labor remain common occupations. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tamil and their primary religion is Vaishnavaism.
