The Mao of India

The Mao of India, numbering approximately 107,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Naga group of northern Manipur bordering Nagaland who call themselves Memei, descendants of Momilu from Maikhel village. Terraced paddy cultivation remains primary, supplemented by hunting and fishing, following Christianity. They are an Indigenous people in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Naga, Mao and their primary religion is Protestantism.
