The Mundang of Chad

The Mundang of Chad, numbering approximately 524,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Chadic branch of the Mundang people centered on Lere in Mayo-Kebbi, whose hilltop kingdom resisted 19th-century pressure from the Sokoto Caliphate and Fulani jihad forces under Modibbo Adama, preserving Lere's status as a symbol of Mundang identity. They mostly adhere to Ethnoreligion and Mundang is their primary language.
