The Ahom of India

The Ahom of India, numbering approximately 871,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are an ethnolinguistic community of Mongoloid origin from Assam who migrated from Tai-speaking regions in AD 1228, initially spoke Tai language, later adopted Assamese language and Vaishnavite Hinduism, and historically formed the dominant social structure. They are an Indigenous people in the Assamese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Assamese and their primary religion is Hinduism.
