They are an ethnolinguistic community of Brazil and can also be known as Hupde Maku, Jupdá Macú", Hupda Maku, "Macú de Tucano", Jupda, Makú-Hupdá, Hupda (Autonym), Hupde, Ubdé, Hupda Maku, Hupda (SELF), Maku-Hupdah, Macú de Tucano, Hupde, "Makú-Hupdá", Jupdá Macú, Maku. They are an Indigenous people, in the Amazon people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Hupdë.
