The Chakkiliyan of India

The Chakkiliyan of India, numbering approximately 1,215,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are described as a Telugu-speaking Dalit leatherworking community of Tamil Nadu, also known as Arundhatiyar, who migrated from Andhra Pradesh as a service caste under Telugu rulers. They traditionally make and repair footwear and worship family and village deities They are an Indigenous people, with Chakkiliyan as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Telugu.
