The Godagali of India

The Godagali of India, numbering approximately 3,900 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of coastal Andhra Pradesh whose name derives from godugu, meaning umbrella, in reference to their former trade as umbrella-makers, now sustained by weaving mats, winnows, and sieves from split bamboo. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
