They are described as a Scheduled Caste community of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, also known as Arya or Dhingra, traditionally agricultural sharecroppers and carcass-removers, skilled in weaving They are an Indigenous people, with Hali as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Nepali-Pahari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism. They primarily speak Kanjari.
