They are an ethnolinguistic community of Mexico and can also be known as Popoloca del Oriente, Ngigua, Mezontla, San Juan Atzingo; Popoloca, Atzingo Popoloca, Los Reyes Metzontla Popoloca, Popoloca, Popoloca de San Juan Atzingo, Popoloca, San Juan Atzingo, Eastern Popoloca. They are an Indigenous people, in the Zapotec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
