They are described as a large tribe of the Cauca Valley in southwestern Colombia at the time of the Spanish conquest, they did not survive as a tribal entity They are an Indigenous people, with Pasto as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Spanish.
