They are an indigenous community of India and can also be known as Dhadi, Charan Bhat, Bhand, Kuchra, Mir, Pakhwaji, Pakwaji, Dum, Merasi, Sheikh, Charan, Tasbirdar, Gathala, Mir-Alm, Kalawant, Simrachhukar, Ranwal, Halwe. They are an Indigenous people, in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Urdu.
