The Purig-Pa of India

The Purig-Pa of India, numbering approximately 44,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Tibetan-origin people inhabiting the Kargil district of Ladakh, concentrated in the Suru Valley, Kargil town, and surrounding blocks. They are also known as Purigpa, Purik. They are an Indigenous people in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Purig and their primary religion is Shia Islam.
