The Chamar, Muchi (Tamil) of India, numbering approximately 425 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a sub-group within the larger Chamar community of India. Though traditionally associated with leather work and tanning, Muchi Chamars are now part of the broader agricultural and urban labor force and can also be known as Papachulolu, Mochavaru, Mochi, Muchi, Muchhir, Arya Kshatriya Chumas, Muchia. They are an Indigenous people, in the Chamar people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Tamil.
