They are an indigenous Scheduled Tribe of south‑central India, concentrated mainly in Telangana and parts of northern Andhra Pradesh. They are traditionally forest‑dwelling agriculturists with a strong cultural identity. They are an Indigenous people, in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Telugu.
