They are one of eight tribal groups within the Ohlone (Costanoan) people of central California. and can also be known as Rumsien, San Carlos Costanoan, Carmeleno, Rumsen Ohlone. They are an Indigenous people, in the North American Indigenous people cluster of the North American Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak English.
