They are an indigenous community of Tibeto-Burman people native to the Transhimalayan region that divides India and Nepal from Tibet. and can also be known as Thudam Bhotia. They are an Indigenous people, in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Tibetan Buddhism. They primarily speak Walungge.
