They are a Hindu agrarian caste community found primarily in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra. They are best known today as small‑ and medium‑scale farmers and village leaders. They are an Indigenous people, in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Malvi.
