The Dhawad of India

The Dhawad of India, numbering approximately 1,900 people, are Unengaged and Unreached.
They are described as a Muslim community of western Maharashtra whose name derives from dhawad, their traditional occupation of extracting metal alloy from earth, now largely abandoned for wage labor as masons and coolies.
They are an Indigenous people in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Marathi is their primary language and Sunni Islam is their primary religion.

The Dhawad are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

Unreached yet Engaged

The Dhawad are Engaged yet Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations but there are sustained efforts at establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

No longer Unreached

The Dhawad are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.

Pray that as people place their faith in Christ, they will always be prepared to share the reason for the hope that they have in Jesus with gentleness and respect.

But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.

Give thanks to God for believers around the world who are willing to cross cultures to share the gospel with those who are perishing. Pray that He will work through their witness to draw many to turn to Him.
