They are described as a Tibeto-Burmese ethnic group indigenous to Nepal, Southern Bhutan, and North India and can also be known as Nishung, Murmi, Lama, Tamanglama.
They are an Diaspora people, with Tamang as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South Himalayan people cluster of the Tibetan / Himalayan Peoples.
Their primary religion is Buddhism - Tibetan.
They primarily speak Tamang, Eastern.
