They are described as an indigenous community of Bangladesh; a dialect subgroup of Meitei (mni) and can also be known as Meitei Muslim.
They are an Indigenous people, with Panan / Pangal as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Manipuri people cluster of the Tibetan / Himalayan Peoples.
Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni.
They primarily speak Meitei.
