They are described as an ethnolinguistic community holding Nepali citizenship or with roots in Nepal.
They are an Diaspora people in the Nepali-Pahari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Nepali is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.
