The Mitna of India

The Mitna of India, numbering approximately 19,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached.
They are described as a fishing and salt-making community of Maharashtra and Daman and Diu. The Mitna are an endogamous subdivision of the Machhi, their name meaning salt-maker in Gujarati. Fishing and salt-panning remain their primary occupations.
They are an Indigenous people in the Gujarati people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Gujarati is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.

The Mitna are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.
