The Nawaiyat of India

The Nawaiyat of India, numbering approximately 59,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached.
They are described as a migrant Muslim trading community of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, their name meaning newcomer, tracing descent from an ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad. Business and government service remain their main occupations.
They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Konkani is their primary language and Sunni Islam is their primary religion.
