The Khatri (Pahari) of India, numbering approximately 54,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a major trading caste that originated in Punjab and spread across northern and western India, claiming Kshatriya descent. Business and moneylending remain their main occupations, and many have entered industry and the professions.
They are an Indigenous people in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Kangri is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.
