The Muchi Chamar of India

The Muchi Chamar of India, numbering approximately 24,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached.
They are described as a sub-group within the larger Chamar community of India. Though traditionally associated with leather work and tanning, Muchi Chamars are now part of the broader agricultural and urban labor force and can also be known as Ramdasi, Muchi, Muchhir, Mochi, Arya Kshatriya Chumas, Mochavaru, Papachulolu, Muchia.
They are an Indigenous people, with Mochi as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Chamar people cluster of the South Asian Peoples.
Their primary religion is Hinduism.
They primarily speak Telugu.

The Muchi Chamar are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

The Muchi Chamar are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.

These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self- made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.
