They are described as a Pahari-speaking Bhat community of Himachal Pradesh traditionally serving as bards, genealogists, and ceremonial specialists. They preserved family lineages, oral histories, and the social prestige and heritage of their patron communities.
They are an Indigenous people in the Other South Asian people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Pahari-Potwari is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.
