The Belama of India

The Belama of India, numbering approximately 38,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a little-known Odia-speaking agricultural community of Odisha, traditionally landholding cultivators organized into two exogamous clans, Kounchhasa and Nageswar. They are Hindus who worship Durga and Kali along with tutelary deities.
They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Odia is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.

The Belama are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.
