The Velan of India

The Velan of India, numbering approximately 112,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a Scheduled Caste of Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Kottayam districts, Kerala, also called Perumannan or Mannan, traditionally devil-dancers, sorcerers, and folk healers. Washing clothes and coconut-plucking remain traditional.
They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Malayalam is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.

The Velan are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.
