The Kalingi of India

The Kalingi of India, numbering approximately 729,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a Telugu-speaking community of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha named for the ancient Kalinga territory. They were traditionally temple priests brought in by Kalinga kings before the arrival of Brahmins. Agriculture is now their main livelihood.
They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Telugu is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.

The Kalingi are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

The Kalingi are Engaged yet Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations but there are sustained efforts at establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

The Kalingi are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.

Ask God to give believers a deep desire to share the gospel with those who don't know the truth about God's redemption plan, and to provide them with opportunities to do so cross-culturally.
