They are described as an Indigenous people of southern Mexico, primarily located in the state of Guerrero with smaller numbers in Oaxaca and can also be known as Amuzgo.
They are an Indigenous people, with Amuzgo as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mixtec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans.
Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism.
They primarily speak Amuzgo, Guerrero.
