They are described as a diverse and historically significant ethnic group in Indonesia. Chinese Indonesians have lived in the Indonesian archipelago since at least the 13th century, with waves of migration intensifying during the Dutch colonial era and can also be known as Peranakan.
They are an Indigenous people, with Peranakan as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Chinese people cluster of the East Asian Peoples.
Their primary religion is Chinese Folk Religion.
They primarily speak Indonesian.
