They are described as an Iranian ethnic group indigenous to the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in northern Iran, particularly Mazandaran Province, with communities also found in parts of Alborz, Golestan, Tehran, and Semnan provinces and can also be known as Mazandarani, Mazanderani.
They are an Indigenous people, with Mazanderani as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Persian people cluster of the Persian-Median Peoples.
Their primary religion is Islam - Shia.
They primarily speak Mazandarani.
