They are described as a subgroup of the Shirazi people who are indigenous to the islands of Zanzibar and can also be known as Swahali Speaking Omanis.
They are an Diaspora people, with Zanzibari as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Bantu, Swahili people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African.
Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni.
They primarily speak Swahili.
