They are described as an ethnolinguistic subgroup of the Tuareg Amazigh, indigenous to the Tamanrasset province of southeastern Algeria and neighboring areas in Libya and Niger .
They are an Indigenous people, with Tuareg as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tuareg people cluster of the Arab World.
Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni.
They primarily speak Tamahaq, Tahaggart.
