The Senapathi of India

The Senapathi of India, numbering approximately 10,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a weaving community of coastal Andhra Pradesh whose name means army chief. Historically the Senapathi were the headmen of Telugu weaving castes. Handloom-weaving remains their traditional occupation, though increasingly threatened by mill-made cloth. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
