The Thoraiyar of India

The Thoraiyar of India, numbering approximately 1,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Tamil Nadu community of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Dharmapuri districts who migrated from Karnataka, also called Kannada Naicker, traditionally sellers of betel leaves and lime. These trades continue today. They are an Indigenous people in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Kannada and their primary religion is Hinduism.
