The Galada Kokani of India

The Galada Kokani of India, numbering approximately 750 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a migrant Karnataka community also known as Vaisya Konkanastha, descended from soldiers captured in a sixteenth-century battle near Mangaluru who married local Tulu women, now largely agricultural and factory laborers. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tulu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
